7 Reasons Why Going Alcohol-Free is Sexy!

Quitting drinking can often feel like we are “giving something up,” when in reality we gain so much more out of life by going alcohol-free.

Happiness, health, better friendships and relationships, freedom, new hobbies, better skin, self-control and development, financial stability, professional growth, and the list goes on.

To celebrate National Recovery Month, we wanted to highlight just a few of the reasons why we think going alcohol-free is sexy!

1. Being Fully Present

Take it from No Booze Babes Founder, Shea Gomez, when she talks about finally feeling sexy in her own skin, “I have connected with myself on a deeper level. Thank you sobriety, therapy, & sober experiences that I am fully present for.”

And nothing is sexier than a partner or friend who is fully engaged in a moment with you! You aren’t distracted or there for the wrong reasons. Your partner can tell you actually want to be there with them and that you are clear-minded and true-hearted.

2. No More Getting Sick in the Uber or Peeing the Bed

Enough said! Alcohol can bring out the worst in us, even if we start the night with the best intentions. I can guarantee, if you are sober, (unless you have an unfortunate case of food poisoning or something) you are always going to make it to the restroom when necessary!

Now, that is sexy!

3. Being Your Healthy, Beautiful Self

Carbs are good! Carbs with no nutritional value? Not so much.

Alcohol can add on extra weight, escalate bad skin, and of course, increase our risk of cancer (women who have two or more drinks per day have a 50% increase in their risk of breast cancer).

By going alcohol-free, you are choosing natural flavors, low sugar, and lower calories, plus the absence of the true menace (the booze).

Take care of that sexy, sober bod, and dodge the dicey health outcomes that come with regular alcohol consumption.

4. Lower Anxiety and Depression Levels

It’s no secret that alcohol consumption wreaks havoc on our anxiety and depression levels. It’s not just the shame or regret of what we did the night before, or even the excruciating 12-hour hangover.

Alcohol actually affects your body at a chemical level, causing immediate and long-term changes.

Listen to this astounding podcast episode by Dr. Huberman, a neuroscientist at Stanford University School of Medicine, to learn about all the different ways even small amounts of alcohol affect our bodies.

5. Self-Love and Self-Awareness

Self-confidence is one of the most attractive qualities a person can possess. Setting personal boundaries, prioritizing physical and mental health, doing what’s best for you, trying new things...

Sure, you’re making these conscious choices for yourself, but our actions always have a ripple effect on those around us. Sometimes alcohol can stand in the way of our personal growth.

Self-awareness also means knowing our core values and (at least trying to) align with them. This is an important quality that people look for when they’re searching for their potential life partners. Yet another reason why going alcohol-free is so sexy!

6. Following Through and Keeping Your Word

When you’re consistently sober, you are able to show up (physically and metaphorically) in your relationships and stick to your word.

Your ability to follow-through is impeccable and nothing will stand in your way of being the friend, family member, co-worker, and dog-mom that everyone knows they can count on.

7. You Will Still Have Exquisite Taste

One of the best parts about going alcohol-free is that there really is no sacrifice! With the boom in the non-alcoholic movement and sober trends, there is so much choice out there for you to live a fabulous alcohol-free life.

There are different forms of recovery and mindful drinking, as well as hundreds of non-alcoholic drink choices that are packed with flavor and satisfy that bubbly craving.

You no longer have to give up flavor, sophistication, or even social events in order to spice up your night.

If you’ve already kicked booze to the curb, you’ve probably realized that nothing can stop you from achieving all of your dreams!

Keep being your authentic and sexy self!
