How to Practice Gratitude This Thanksgiving

As we reflect on our time in 2022, we have so much to be grateful for - a healthy business that thrived through the pandemic, the most loyal and incredible customers (like you), and a hard-working, GrĂĽvi team making it all happen behind the scenes!

In our busy lives, we sometimes forget to pause and pay attention. The long Thanksgiving weekend is a perfect opportunity to take that time and practice gratitude!

As shocking as it is that it’s already Thanksgiving, it does bring a warm feeling to the chilly air. Everyone loves cozying up by the fire, soft pajamas, and extra family time. It’s also a time to consider the true meaning of the holiday we all gather for - what are you grateful for?

Check out these tips for practicing gratitude this Thanksgiving weekend:

1. Gratitude Journal

Writing is a powerful practice to work into your everyday life. Even if you just quickly jot down what you’re thankful for today - just 3 little sentences.

Go a step further this year and write down how you will show gratitude for those people and things you appreciate so much.

If you have a hard time thinking of what to write, check out this amazing gratitude journal from Papier - it gives you prompts and pleasing print to look at while you reflect on your blessings.

2. Say "Thank You" for Something Small

Now, time to put your words into action! It’s as simple as saying “thank you” to your partner for something you don’t usually acknowledge.

It’s calling up your parents and telling them something you appreciate from your childhood.

DMing that influencer you admire sharing what you appreciate about their page.

Looking up at the sky and thanking nature for its peaceful beauty.

It’s the little things that mean so much to each of us. It doesn’t take much effort show gratitude!

3. Honor Your Body

Move that body! However that looks. You can practice gratitude for your body and all its abilities by honoring your health and overall wellness. Try a body-scan meditation, some yoga in the park, or a HIIT workout to really feel your heart pumping.

After a little movement, treat your body with a hearty meal and well-deserved GrĂĽvi!

Taking care of our body is the best way we can honor it. Plus the endorphins that will have you feeling extra grateful and giddy this holiday season!

4. Flip the Script

The other day, I was annoyed when trying to get tasks done around the house and every time I turned around, my children were right there at my heels.

My initial reaction was frustration and wanting to tell them to stop following me. But I decided to flip the script.

I looked at the situation from a “bird’s eye view” and told myself a different story. Really, it was cute that they followed me around like little ducklings, because they certainly won’t be doing that for much longer!

Flipping your script is a cheeky way to appreciate your current situation, whatever it may be, and take the “seriousness” out of it.

5. Giving Back

Of course, the underlying theme of Thanksgiving is “giving thanks,” but it has also become known as the season of “giving back.” Donating items (or your time) is not just beneficial for the community you're helping, but helps fill your own gratitude cup.

We are so grateful for your continuous support of GrĂĽvi and proud of you for making positive choices for yourself. Cheers!
